Adultery:
1 Corinthians 6:11:
And that is what some of you were. But you were
washed, you were sanctified, you were justified
in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the
Spirit of our God.
Exodus 20:14:
You shall not commit adultery.
Galatians 5:19:
The acts of the sinful nature are obvious:
sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;
Mark 10:19:
You know the commandments: `Do not murder, do
not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give
false testimony, do not defraud, honor your
father and mother.'
Matthew 15:19:
For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder,
adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false
testimony, slander.
Matthew 5:27-28:
You have heard that it was said, `Do not commit
adultery.' But I tell you that anyone who looks
at a woman lustfully has already committed
adultery with her in his heart.
Proverbs 6:24-28:
Keeping you from the immoral woman, from the
smooth tongue of the wayward wife. Do not lust
in your heart after her beauty or let her
captivate you with her eyes, for the prostitute
reduces you to a loaf of bread, and the
adulteress preys upon your very life Can a man
scoop fire into his lap without his clothes
being burned? Can a man walk on hot coals
without his feet being scorched?
Psalms 32:5:
Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not
cover up my iniquity. I said, ‘I will confess my
transgressions to the LORD’-- and you forgave
the guilt of my sin.
2 Corinthians 1:4-5:
Who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we
can comfort those in any trouble with the
comfort we ourselves have received from God. For
just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into
our lives, so also through Christ our comfort
overflows.
James 1:2-4:
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you
face trials of many kinds, because you know that
the testing of your faith develops perseverance.
Perseverance must finish its work so that you
may be mature and complete, not lacking
anything.
Matthew 10:29:
Are not two sparrows sold for a penny ? Yet not
one of them will fall to the ground apart from
the will of your Father.
Nahum 1:7:
The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble.
He cares for those who trust in him,
Philippians 1:19:
for I know that through your prayers and the
help given by the Spirit of Jesus Christ, what
has happened to me will turn out for my
deliverance.
Proverbs 3:11:
My son, do not despise the LORD's discipline and
do not resent his rebuke,
Psalms 71:20:
Though you have made me see troubles, many and
bitter, you will restore my life again; from the
depths of the earth you will again bring me up.
Romans 12:12:
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction,
faithful in prayer.
Romans 5:3:
Not only so, but we also rejoice in our
sufferings, because we know that suffering
produces perseverance;
1 Corinthians 5:11:
But now I am writing you that you must not
associate with anyone who calls himself a
brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an
idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a
swindler. With such a man do not even eat.
1 Corinthians 6:9:
Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit
the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither
the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor
adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual
offenders
1 Corinthians 6:10-19:
Nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor
slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the
kingdom of God. And that is what some of you
were. But you were washed, you were sanctified,
you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus
Christ and by the Spirit of our God. ‘Everything
is permissible for me’--but not everything is
beneficial. ‘Everything is permissible for
me’--but I will not be mastered by anything.
‘Food for the stomach and the stomach for
food’--but God will destroy them both. The body
is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the
Lord, and the Lord for the body. By his power
God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will
raise us also. Do you not know that your bodies
are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take
the members of Christ and unite them with a
prostitute? Never! Do you not know that he who
unites himself with a prostitute is one with her
in body? For it is said, ‘The two will become
one flesh.’ But he who unites himself with the
Lord is one with him in spirit. Flee from sexual
immorality. All other sins a man commits are
outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins
against his own body. Do you not know that your
body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in
you, whom you have received from God? You are
not your own.
2 Peter 2:19:
They promise them freedom, while they themselves
are slaves of depravity--for a man is a slave to
whatever has mastered him.
Ephesians 5:17-18:
Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what
the Lord's will is. Do not get drunk on wine,
which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled
with the Spirit.
Galatians 5:19-21:
The acts of the sinful nature are obvious:
sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;
idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord,
jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition,
dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness,
orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did
before, that those who live like this will not
inherit the kingdom of God.
Luke 21:34:
Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down
with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties
of life, and that day will close on you
unexpectedly like a trap.
Philippians 4:13:
I can do everything through him who gives me
strength.
Proverbs 20:1:
Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is
led astray by them is not wise.
Proverbs 23:20:
Do not join those who drink too much wine or
gorge themselves on meat.
Romans 14:21:
It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to
do anything else that will cause your brother to
fall.
1 Corinthians 13:4-5:
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy,
it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not
rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily
angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Colossians 3:8:
But now you must rid yourselves of all such
things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander,
and filthy language from your lips.
Ephesians 4:26:
‘In your anger do not sin’ : Do not let the sun
go down while you are still angry,
Ephesians 4:31:
Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger,
brawling and slander, along with every form of
malice.
Galatians 5:19-25:
The acts of the sinful nature are obvious:
sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;
idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord,
jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition,
dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness,
orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did
before, that those who live like this will not
inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the
Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and
self-control. Against such things there is no
law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have
crucified the sinful nature with its passions
and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us
keep in step with the Spirit.
James 1:20:
for man's anger does not bring about the
righteous life that God desires.
Proverbs 15:1:
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh
word stirs up anger.

A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension, but a
patient man calms a quarrel.
Proverbs 22:24:
Do not make friends with a hot-tempered man, do
not associate with one easily angered,

They eat the bread of wickedness and drink the
wine of violence.
1 Peter 5:6-7:
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty
hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast
all your anxiety on him because he cares for
you.

(You are) persecuted, but not abandoned; struck
down, but not destroyed.
Luke 21:34:
Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down
with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties
of life, and that day will close on you
unexpectedly like a trap.
Matthew 6:25-34:
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your
life, what you will eat or drink; or about your
body, what you will wear. Is not life more
important than food, and the body more important
than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they
do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and
yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not
much more valuable than they? Who of you by
worrying can add a single hour to his life ?
And why do you worry about clothes? See how the
lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or
spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in
all his splendor was dressed like one of these.
If that is how God clothes the grass of the
field, which is here today and tomorrow is
thrown into the fire, will he not much more
clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not
worry, saying, `What shall we eat?' or `What
shall we drink?' or `What shall we wear?' For
the pagans run after all these things, and your
heavenly Father knows that you need them. But
seek first his kingdom and his righteousness,
and all these things will be given to you as
well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for
tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has
enough trouble of its own.
Philippians 4:19:
And my God will meet all your needs according to
his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7:
Do not be anxious about anything, but in
everything, by prayer and petition, with
thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And
the peace of God, which transcends all
understanding, will guard your hearts and your
minds in Christ Jesus.

though its waters roar and foam and the
mountains quake with their surging.
Romans 8:28:
And we know that in all things God works for the
good of those who love him, who have been called
according to his purpose.
1 John 4:18:
There is no fear in love. But perfect love
drives out fear, because fear has to do with
punishment. The one who fears is not made
perfect in love.
1 John 5:13:
I write these things to you who believe in the
name of the Son of God so that you may know that
you have eternal life.
2 Peter 1:10-11:
Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to
make your calling and election sure. For if you
do these things, you will never fall, and you
will receive a rich welcome into the eternal
kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
2 Timothy 1:12:
That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet I am not
ashamed, because I know whom I have believed,
and am convinced that he is able to guard what I
have entrusted to him for that day.
Ephesians 3:12:
In him and through faith in him we may approach
God with freedom and confidence.
Hebrews 10:22:
let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in
full assurance of faith, having our hearts
sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience
and having our bodies washed with pure water.
Hebrews 6:11:
We want each of you to show this same diligence
to the very end, in order to make your hope
sure.
Hebrews 6:19:
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul,
firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary
behind the curtain,
Isaiah 12:2:
Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not
be afraid. The Lord, the Lord, is my strength
and my song; he has become my salvation.
Psalms 4:3:
Know that the Lord has set apart the godly for
himself; the Lord will hear when I call to him.
Psalms 42:11:
Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so
disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I
will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
Romans 8:38-39:
For I am convinced that neither death nor life,
neither angels nor demons, neither the present
nor the future, nor any powers, neither height
nor depth, nor anything else in all creation,
will be able to separate us from the love of God
that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

discerned.

Now to you who believe, this stone is precious.
But to those who do not believe, ‘The stone the
builders rejected has become the capstone, ‘
and, ‘A stone that causes men to stumble and a
rock that makes them fall.’ They stumble because
they disobey the message--which is also what
they were destined for.
Hebrews 11:6:
And without faith it is impossible to please
God, because anyone who comes to him must
believe that he exists and that he rewards those
who earnestly seek him.
Job 12:7-9:
But ask the animals, and they will teach you,
or the birds of the air, and they will tell you;
or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or
let the fish of the sea inform you. Which of all
these does not know that the hand of the Lord
has done this?
John 12:47-48:
As for the person who hears my words but does
not keep them, I do not judge him. For I did not
come to judge the world, but to save it. There
is a judge for the one who rejects me and does
not accept my words; that very word which I
spoke will condemn him at the last day.
Proverbs 8:17:
I love those who love me, and those who seek me
find me.
Psalms 10:4:
In his pride the wicked does not seek him; in
all his thoughts there is no room for God.
Psalms 53:1:
The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’
They are corrupt, and their ways are vile; there
is no one who does good.
Romans 1:18-20:
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven
against all the godlessness and wickedness of
men who suppress the truth by their wickedness,
since what may be known about God is plain to
them, because God has made it plain to them. For
since the creation of the world God's invisible
qualities--his eternal power and divine
nature--have been clearly seen, being understood
from what has been made, so that men are without
excuse.
1 John 2:9:
Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates
his brother is still in the darkness.
1 John 4:20:
If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his
brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not

may be concealed by deception, but his
wickedness will be exposed in the assembly.
Though his speech is charming, do not believe
him, for seven abominations fill his heart.
1 Corinthians 3:13:
his work will be shown for what it is, because
the Day will bring it to light. It will be
revealed with fire, and the fire will test the

survives, he will receive his reward.

wicked will be charged aga

your words you will be condemned."
Matthew 7:1:
Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in
the same way you judge others, you will be
judged, and with the measure you use, it will be
measured to you. "Why do you look at the speck
of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no
attention to the plank in your own eye? How can
you say to your brother, `Let me take the speck
out of your eye,' when all the time there is a
plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take
the plank out of your own eye, and then you will
see clearly to remove the speck from your
brother's eye.

Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on
your descendants.
Isaiah 54:1:

child; burst into song, shout for joy, you who
were never in labor; because more are the
children of the desolate woman than of her who
has a husband," says the LORD.
Isaiah 54:2-11:
"Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your
tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen
your cords, strengthen your stakes. For you will
spread out to the right and to the left; your
descendants will dispossess nations and settle
in their desolate cities. "Do not be afraid; you
will not suffer shame. Do not fear disgrace; you
will not be humiliated. You will forget the
shame of your youth and remember no more the
reproach of your widowhood. For your Maker is
your husband-- the LORD Almighty is his name--
the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is
called the God of all the earth. The LORD will
call you back as if you were a wife deserted and
distressed in spirit-- a wife who married young,
only to be rejected," says your God. "For a
brief moment I abandoned you, but with deep
compassion I will bring you back. In a surge of
anger I hid my face from you for a moment, but
with everlasting kindness I will have compassion
on you," says the LORD your Redeemer. "To me
this is like the days of Noah, when I swore that
the waters of Noah would never again cover the
earth. So now I have sworn not to be angry with
you, never to rebuke you again. Though the
mountains be shaken and the hills be removed,
yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken
nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the
LORD, who has compassion on you. “O afflicted
city, lashed by storms and not comforted, I will
build you with stones of turquoise, your

Proverbs 5:2:
that you may maintain discretion and your lips
may preserve knowledge.
1 Corinthians 8:9-12:
Be careful, however, that the exercise of your
freedom does not become a stumbling block to the
weak. For if anyone with a weak conscience sees
you who have this knowledge eating in an idol's
temple, won't he be emboldened to eat what has
been sacrificed to idols? So this weak brother,
for whom Christ died, is destroyed by your
knowledge. When you sin against your brothers in
this way and wound their weak conscience, you
sin against Christ.
1 John 3:20-21:
whenever our hearts condemn us. For God is
greater than our hearts, and he knows

"No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place
where it will be hidden, or under a bowl.
Instead he puts it on its stand, so that those
who come in may see the light. Your eye is the
lamp of your body. When your eyes are good, your
whole body also is full of light. But when they
are bad, your body also is full of darkness. See
to it, then, that the light within you is not
darkness. Therefore, if your whole body is full
of light, and no part of it dark, it will be
completely lighted, as when the light of a lamp
shines on you."

possessions."

I am not saying this because I am in need, for I
have learned to be content whatever the

When we are judged by the Lord, we are being
disciplined so that we will not be condemned
with the world.
1 Corinthians 15:55:
"Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O
death, is your sting?"
Exodus 34:24:
I will drive out nations before you and enlarge
your territory, and no one will covet your land
when you go up three times each year to appear
before the LORD your God.
Hebrews 12:5-9:
And you have forgotten that word of
encouragement that addresses you as sons: "My
son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline,
and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,
because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and
he punishes everyone he accepts as a son."
Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating
you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by
his father? If you are not disciplined (and
everyone undergoes discipline), then you are
illegitimate children and not true sons.
Moreover, we have all had human fathers who
disciplined us and we respected them for it. How
much more should we submit to the Father of our
spirits and live!
Isaiah 26:16:
LORD, they came to you in their distress; when
you disciplined them, they could barely whisper
a prayer.
James 1:14-15:
but each one is tempted when, by his own evil
desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then,
after desire has conceived, it gives birth to
sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth
to death.
Jeremiah 30:14:
All your allies have forgotten you; they care
nothing for you. I have struck you as an enemy
would and punished you as would the cruel,
because your guilt is so great and your sins so
many.
Job 5:17-18:
"Blessed is the man whom God corrects; so do not
despise the discipline of the Almighty. For he
wounds, but he also binds up; he injures, but
his hands also heal.
John 3:15:
that everyone who believes in him may have
eternal life.
John 8:51:
I tell you the truth, if anyone keeps my word,
he will never see death."
Micah 2:1-2:
Woe to those who plan iniquity, to those who
plot evil on their beds! At morning's light they
carry it out because it is in their power to do
it. They covet fields and seize them, and
houses, and take them. They defraud a man of his
home, a fellowman of his inheritance.
Philippians 1:21:
For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
Proverbs 3:11-12:
My son, do not despise the LORD's discipline and
do not resent his rebuke, because the LORD
disciplines those he loves, as a father the son
he delights in.
Psalms 116:15:
Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death
of his saints.
Psalms 118:18:
The LORD has chastened me severely, but he has
not given me over to death.
Psalms 119:67:
Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I
obey your word.
Psalms 23:5-6:
You prepare a table before me in the presence of
my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup
overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow
me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in
the house of the LORD forever.
Psalms 49:15:
But God will redeem my life from the grave; he
will surely take me to himself.
Revelation 3:19:
Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be
earnest, and repent.
Romans 13:9:
The commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do
not murder," "Do not steal," "Do not covet," and
whatever other commandment there may be, are
summed up in this one rule: "Love your neighbor
as yourself."
Romans 14:8:
If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die,
we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die,
we belong to the Lord.
Romans 7:8:
But sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the
commandment, produced in me every kind of
covetous desire. For apart from law, sin is
dead.
Romans 8:38-39:
For I am convinced that neither death nor life,
neither angels nor demons, neither the present
nor the future, nor any powers, neither height
nor depth, nor anything else in all creation,
will be able to separate us from the love of God
that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
1 Peter 1:13:
Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be
self-controlled; set your hope fully on the
grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is
revealed.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18:
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly
we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being
renewed day by day. For our light and momentary
troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory
that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes
not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For
what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is
eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:8-9:
We are hard pressed on every side, but not
crushed; perplexed, but not in despair;
persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but
not destroyed.
Genesis 4:6:
Then the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry?
Why is your face downcast?
Genesis 4:7:
If you do what is right, will you not be
accepted? But if you do not do what is right,
sin is crouching at your door; it desires to
have you, but you must master it."
Psalms 3:1-2:
O LORD, how many are my foes! How many rise up
against me! Many are saying of me, "God will not
deliver him."
Psalms 32:3-4:
When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through
my groaning all day long. For day and night your
hand was heavy upon me; my strength was sapped
as in the heat of summer.
Psalms 42:11:
Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so
disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I
will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
Psalms 42:5-6:
Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so
disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I
will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. My
soul is downcast within me; therefore I will
remember you from the land of the Jordan, the
heights of Hermon--from Mount Mizar.
Psalms 51:12:
Restore to me the joy of your salvation and
grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
1 Corinthians 7:10-17:
To the married I give this command (not I, but
the Lord): A wife must not separate from her
husband. But if she does, she must remain
unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband.
And a husband must not divorce his wife. To the
rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If any
brother has a wife who is not a believer and she
is willing to live with him, he must not divorce
her. And if a woman has a husband who is not a
believer and he is willing to live with her, she
must not divorce him. For the unbelieving
husband has been sanctified through his wife,
and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified
through her believing husband. Otherwise your
children would be unclean, but as it is, they
are holy. But if the unbeliever leaves, let him
do so. A believing man or woman is not bound in
such circumstances; God has called us to live in
peace. How do you know, wife, whether you will
save your husband? Or, how do you know, husband,
whether you will save your wife? Nevertheless,
each one should retain the place in life that
the Lord assigned to him and to which God has
called him. This is the rule I lay down in all
the churches.
Colossians 2:13-14:
When you were dead in your sins and in the
uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made
you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our
sins, having canceled the written code, with its
regulations, that was against us and that stood
opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to
the cross.
Luke 16:18:
"Anyone who divorces his wife and marries
another woman commits adultery, and the man who
marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
Malachi 2:14-15:
You ask, "Why?" It is because the LORD is acting
as the witness between you and the wife of your
youth, because you have broken faith with her,
though she is your partner, the wife of your
marriage covenant. Has not [the LORD] made them
one? In flesh and spirit they are his. And why
one? Because he was seeking godly offspring. So
guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break
faith with the wife of your youth.
Matthew 12:31:
And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will
be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the
Spirit will not be forgiven.
Matthew 19:9:
I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife,
except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries
another woman commits adultery."
Matthew 5:31-32:
"It has been said, `Anyone who divorces his wife
must give her a certificate of divorce.' But I
tell you that anyone who divorces his wife,
except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to
become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the
divorced woman commits adultery.
Romans 12:18:
If it is possible, as far as it depends on you,
live at peace with everyone.
Romans 7:1:
Do you not know, brothers--for I am speaking to
men who know the law--that the law has authority
over a man only as long as he lives? For
example, by law a married woman is bound to her
husband as long as he is alive, but if her
husband dies, she is released from the law of
marriage. So then, if she marries another man
while her husband is still alive, she is called
an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is
released from that law and is not an adulteress,
even though she marries another man.
1 Corinthians 10:13:
No temptation has seized you except what is
common to man. And God is faithful; he will not
let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But
when you are tempted, he will also provide a way
out so that you can stand up under it.
1 Corinthians 6:9-17:
Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit
the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither
the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor
adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual
offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor
drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will
inherit the kingdom of God.
"Everything is permissible for me"--but not
everything is beneficial. "Everything is
permissible for me"--but I will not be mastered
by anything. "Food for the stomach and the
stomach for food"--but God will destroy them
both. The body is not meant for sexual
immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for
the body. By his power God raised the Lord from
the dead, and he will raise us also. Do you not
know that your bodies are members of Christ
himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ
and unite them with a prostitute? Never! Do you
not know that he who unites himself with a
prostitute is one with her in body? For it is
said, "The two will become one flesh." But he
who unites himself with the Lord is one with him
in spirit.
1 Thessalonians 5:14:
And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are
idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be
patient with everyone.
2 Corinthians 1:1-7:
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of
God, and Timothy our brother, To the church of
God in Corinth, together with all the saints
throughout Achaia: Grace and peace to you from
God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Praise
be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of
all comfort, who comforts us in all our
troubles, so that we can comfort those in any
trouble with the comfort we ourselves have
received from God. For just as the sufferings of
Christ flow over into our lives, so also through
Christ our comfort overflows. If we are
distressed, it is for your comfort and
salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your
comfort, which produces in you patient endurance
of the same sufferings we suffer. And our hope
for you is firm, because we know that just as
you share in our sufferings, so also you share
in our comfort.
Ecclesiastes 10:17:
Blessed are you, O land whose king is of noble
birth and whose princes eat at a proper time--
for strength and not for drunkenness.
Matthew 6:25-34:
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your
life, what you will eat or drink; or about your
body, what you will wear. Is not life more
important than food, and the body more important
than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they
do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and
yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not
much more valuable than they? Who of you by
worrying can add a single hour to his life ?
"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the
lilies of the field grow.
Philippians 3:19:
Their destiny is destruction, their god is their
stomach, and their glory is in their shame.
Their mind is on earthly things.
Proverbs 23:21:
for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and
drowsiness clothes them in rags.
Psalms 132:15:
I will bless her with abundant provisions; her
poor will I satisfy with food.
Romans 12:1:
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of
God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living
sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is
your spiritual act of worship.
1 Corinthians 13:4:
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy,
it does not boast, it is not proud.
1 Corinthians 3:3:
You are still worldly. For since there is
jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not
worldly? Are you not acting like mere men?
